Educational Support Activities
The Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees remains committed to strengthening education through programs, partnerships, and initiatives that support schools, educators, and students throughout Pennsylvania. The Educational Support Committee helps advance this mission by identifying opportunities that allow PASR members to continue contributing to education and promoting initiatives that benefit communities across the Commonwealth.
Supporting Education
Through the Educational Support Committee, PASR encourages programs that strengthen education and create meaningful opportunities for member involvement. These efforts include:
- Educational Support Grant Program — This program provides each of PASR’s in‑state regions with a total of $750 per year to support educational initiatives.
- Lauretta Woodson Recognition Program — Each of PASR’s Pennsylvania chapters may present this award annually to one educator and one support professional in recognition of their service to students and public education. Honorees receive a pin and a proclamation acknowledging their contributions. Some chapters also provide a nominal honorarium. Each chapter has the flexibility to determine its own procedures for selecting award recipients.
- Local Initiatives — Chapters raise funds to support programs that address educational needs in their communities, such as educational support grants, mentoring, tutoring, and other student‑focused activities.
Member Involvement
PASR members continue to play an important role in supporting education after retirement. Through educational outreach and committee‑led initiatives, members contribute their experience and dedication to helping public schools succeed.
