On February 12th twenty-five South West Florida Chapter members arrived at Florida Gulf Coast University. They had a brief meeting, a luncheon at the University Cafeteria and an hour and a half guided tour of the University. Everyone was amazed at the growth of this campus, which is only 7 years old. We were all encouraged to take life long learning classes offered to retirees at little or no cost. Click here to see pictures of that trip.

The Carolina Chapter of Region 13 had their first Chapter sponsored RECREO. It was a smashing success! Thirty-one members went out to dinner at T-Bones Restaurant for and excellent meal with four choices of entrees. As a perk the restaurant gave George Vlasic, the RECREO chairman, 2 free complimentary passes to the Alabama Theater valued at $27. 50 each and one complimentary dinner with a value of $17.50. These items were given out to participants of the RECREO in a random drawing. Following the sumptuous meal the group went to the near by ALABAMA Theater to see the musical variety Show, “ONE”. Members came from as far away as Davison, NC, which is a four-hour drive from the RECREO site. This paled in comparison to the camaraderie and the fun had by the entire group, which were recognized by the MC at the Theater. With this success they are ready to do another RECREO.
