At our Summer Luncheon on June 5, our chapter presented $600 scholarships to two students from Wilkes University who are currently enrolled in education courses for the purpose of becoming teachers. This year’s recipients are Wilkes University junior education majors Shelly Hydock (on the left) and Christine Galella.

2008 Lauretta Woodson Award Winner

The 2008 Lauretta Woodson Award winners were staff members from the Wyoming Area School District. Awardees were Michael Podwika, teacher (pictured above) and John Bodusky support staff (no picture available).

At our Fall luncheon Elaine Wall was named the 2008 Volunteer of the Year. Elaine is a retired elementary teacher from the Tunkhannock School District. She now spends her time volunteering for the Red Cross and the Tunkhannock Public Library. The John J. Dillon PASR Service Award was presented to Secretary Dorothy K. Petersen. The award is for persons who contribute outstanding service to the Association and its members.
