Lehigh County Community Service
Every year Lehigh Chapter/PASR conducts a survey to glean the number of hours volunteer PASR members contribute to their respective communities. This survey is conducted in the spring of the year. In the fall, the outstanding member, based not only on total volunteer hours but also on diversity of service, is honored as the Volunteer of the Year. The selected recipient is awarded a PASR certificate and a volunteer pin at a regional meeting. This individual is further honored at a chapter meeting and presented with an especially chosen personal token of appreciation for services to his/her community.
In the fall the Community Service Committee collects toiletry items for the homeless and winter apparel for needy children identified by the Sixth Street Shelter in Allentown. This year the committee is also collecting items in support of servicemen and/or their local families. Lehigh Chapter truly follows the motto of “serve, and be not served” in support of its local.
The following graphic is a copy of a special award our Chapter received from the Lehigh County Board of Commissioners. We proudly accepted this grand gesture promoted by Percy Dougherty, Chairman of the commission.
Our Volunteer of the Year, Betsy Burnhauser, also received a resolution proclaiming her volunteerism on behalf of the citizens of both Lehigh and Carbon Counties.
