PASR By The Numbers
- 5–50%: How much you can save on products and services that you need, by participating in PASR’s endorsed member benefit programs. PASR receives no commissions from its endorsement of commercial products. All benefits offered by companies are passed on to the members who elect to participate.
- 35,000: The number of retired teachers, administrators and school support professionals who chose to join and are currently supporting PASR with the self-payment of dues.
- 3,000: The number of PASR members in need who were served by our local Social Service volunteers in 2003. Should you ever become hospitalized, confined to a nursing home, or find yourself in need of financial aid, know that PASR takes care of its own.
- $60,000: The amount spent from PASR’s Memorial Honor Fund in 2003 to send cards, carry gifts, and render financial assistance to members in need.
- $67,000: The amount that the PASR state and local organizations provided in scholarships to high school and college students preparing for careers in education.
- $1.5 Billion: The amount of the last cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) enacted by the General Assembly in response to PASR’s fierce, highly aggressive 2001/2002 legislative campaign. PASR has helped school retirees attain seven COLAs, health insurance premium assistance, and many other benefit improvements.
- $0: The amount of increases you can expect this next year in your pension or health insurance assistance from the efforts of other organizations. It is also the amount that will be left in the PSERS Retirement Fund if PASR were to stop challenging the politicians who control the Retirement System.
