In the late 1990's an idea arose among some Kiski
area retired school personnel to form its own chapter of PASR. At
a meeting in Leechburg, twenty-five retirees organized and chose
Rick Papurello as their first President. And on March 15, 2002,
the Alle-Kiski Chapter received its charter from PASR, the state
association. Unfortunately, Rick could not finish his presidency
and Carmine Botti took over. Bill Halli followed and Jerry C. Rea
is our President now.

Our organization is comprised of members from the
following school districts: Apollo-Ridge, Burrell, Freeport, Highlands,
Kiski Area, Leechburg, and New Kensington-Arnold. And together we
are now part of PASR's Region 6 that consists of our chapter plus
chapters from the following: Armstrong, Bedford, Cambria, Indiana,
Jefferson, Greater Johnstown, and Somerset.
There are now over four hundred dues-paying members
and we are proud to say that we have initiated a scholarship program
for local high school seniors who plan on becoming educators. That's
quite an accomplishment to have gone from twenty-five members in
the Kiski Area to now over four hundred actively involved retired
school personnel who donate much volunteer time to their communities.
